Despite the magnetism between the two fugitives, romance must wait as they are hotly pursued from Brussels to Lisbon. The future shape of Europe depends on whether they can live long enough to expose the plot. Although a work of fiction, The Yo-Yo Conspiracy raises real questions about how the European Union is governed, and creates the unsettling feeling that such a conspiracy is not at all beyond the realms of possibility.
