It's the 1980s, and British former rock star Darius Judd is comfortable -- you might even say successful, in a low-key sort of way. His music has brought him respectable sales, critically-acclaimed recordings, and a luxury home in the countryside. Life is good -- and a vast improvement over the confusion of his early career, when he played keyboards with the long-forgotten 70s progressive rockers 'Horizon'. But when his old drummer Arnie calls unexpectedly at Darius’s house, carrying with him the dark secret of Darius’s success, his hitherto perfect lifestyle starts to unravel. At about the same time, the band's former singer, Charlie, living in isolation in Cornwall, receives a visit from Johanna, the only person outside the band who understands how and why it all came to an end, and who, unfortunately for Darius, harbours a sense of poetic justice.
